Cookie Notice
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone, or other device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, to improve the user experience, and to provide information to website operators about how their sites are used.
In addition to cookies, we may use other similar technologies, including:
- Web beacons (pixel tags): Tiny transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to track whether a page has been viewed or an email has been opened;
- Local storage: Technology that stores data locally on your device, similar to cookies but with larger storage capacity;
- Session storage: Temporary data storage that is cleared when you close your browser;
- JavaScript tags and SDKs: Code embedded on our pages that enables certain analytics and functionality.
References to "cookies" in this Notice include all of the above tracking technologies unless otherwise specified.
This Cookie Notice is part of, and should be read alongside, our Privacy Policy. By using our website, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this Notice, subject to your ability to manage preferences as described in Section 4.
Types of Cookies We Use
We use four categories of cookies on our website and learning platform. Below is a detailed description of each category, its purpose, and whether it is required or optional.
Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on our site are set by third parties whose services we have integrated. These third parties may independently collect information about your online activities over time and across other websites. The following table identifies the primary third-party cookie providers we use:
| Provider | Purpose | Category | Privacy Info |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Website traffic and behavior analytics | Analytics | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google Ads | Conversion tracking and remarketing | Marketing | Google Privacy Policy |
| Meta Pixel | Facebook/Instagram advertising measurement | Marketing | Meta Privacy Policy |
| LinkedIn Insight Tag | LinkedIn campaign analytics and retargeting | Marketing | LinkedIn Privacy Policy |
| HubSpot | CRM, live chat, and form functionality | Functionality | HubSpot Privacy Policy |
| Stripe | Payment processing fraud prevention | Necessary | Stripe Privacy Policy |
| Zoom | Video session functionality | Necessary | Zoom Privacy Policy |
We do not control the cookies set by third parties and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third parties directly.
You may opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out tool or the Network Advertising Initiative's opt-out page.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several options for controlling cookies:
4.1 Cookie Consent Manager. When you first visit our website, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner. You may accept all cookies, reject optional cookies, or customize your preferences by category. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of our website.
4.2 Browser Settings. Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically set your browser to block cookies, delete existing cookies, or receive notifications when a cookie is set. Below are links to cookie management instructions for major browsers:
4.3 Mobile Devices. On mobile devices, you can typically manage tracking and advertising preferences through your device settings. On iOS, visit Settings → Privacy → Tracking. On Android, visit Settings → Privacy → Ads.
4.4 Email Marketing. If you have subscribed to marketing emails from Meta Xcel Academy, you may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any marketing email or by contacting us at info@meta-xcel.com. Note that unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect transactional communications related to your enrollment.
Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals to websites. Because there is currently no industry-standard interpretation of DNT signals, our website does not respond differently to DNT signals at this time. However, you may use the cookie management tools described in Section 4 to limit the tracking technologies active on your device when visiting our site.
If a universal standard for DNT signal interpretation is established in the future, we will update this Notice accordingly.
Residents of certain states (including Colorado, Connecticut, and Virginia) have the right to opt out of processing of their data for targeted advertising purposes. You may exercise this right through our cookie consent manager or by contacting us directly. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Cookie Retention Periods
Cookies are either session cookies, which expire automatically when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a set period of time. The following table provides representative retention periods for the types of cookies we use:
| Cookie Category | Type | Typical Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication & session management | Session / Persistent | Session to 30 days |
| Security (CSRF tokens, fraud detection) | Session / Persistent | Session to 1 year |
| Analytics (Google Analytics) | Persistent | Up to 13 months |
| User preferences and settings | Persistent | Up to 12 months |
| Cookie consent preferences | Persistent | 12 months |
| Advertising / remarketing | Persistent | Up to 90 days |
| Live chat session | Session / Persistent | Session to 180 days |
Actual retention periods may vary depending on the specific cookie and the third party that sets it. You can view and manage cookies set on your browser using your browser's developer tools or through our cookie consent manager.
Updates to This Notice
We may update this Cookie Notice from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use, applicable legal requirements, or our business practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where required, present the updated cookie consent banner to website visitors.
We encourage you to review this Cookie Notice periodically. For questions about changes, please contact us using the information in Section 8.
