Code of Conduct
Purpose
Meta Xcel Academy is committed to providing a professional, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for every student, instructor, staff member, and community participant. This Code of Conduct ("Code") establishes the standards of behavior we expect from all members of our community and describes how violations are handled.
This Code is incorporated by reference into the Meta Xcel Academy Terms of Use. By enrolling in any program or accessing any Meta Xcel service, you agree to comply with this Code in its entirety.
Who This Applies To
This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals who interact with Meta Xcel Academy in any capacity, including:
- Current and prospective students enrolled in or applying to any program;
- Graduates and alumni participating in alumni events, networks, or mentorship programs;
- Instructors, tutors, coaches, and teaching assistants;
- Staff, contractors, and administrative personnel;
- Guests, visitors, and event attendees at any Meta Xcel-hosted event or activity;
- Participants in any Meta Xcel online forum, group, channel, or community platform.
This Code applies across all settings and contexts, including live class sessions, recorded materials, online platforms, social media interactions referencing Meta Xcel, in-person events, and private communications between community members arising from their Meta Xcel participation.
Our Core Values
The following values guide everything we do at Meta Xcel Academy and form the foundation of this Code:
| Value | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Respect | We treat every person with dignity, regardless of background, identity, or experience level. |
| Integrity | We are honest in our work, our representations, and our interactions with others. |
| Inclusion | We actively welcome diverse perspectives and ensure every voice has space to be heard. |
| Accountability | We take responsibility for our actions and their impact on others. |
| Growth | We approach challenges and mistakes as opportunities to learn, not reasons to demean. |
| Professionalism | We conduct ourselves as the career professionals we are becoming, in all interactions. |
Expected Behavior
All community members are expected to:
- Communicate respectfully. Use professional, courteous language in all interactions — written or verbal — including during live sessions, in chat messages, emails, and discussion forums;
- Engage constructively. Offer feedback and criticism in a constructive, specific, and kind manner. Focus on ideas, not individuals;
- Honor diverse perspectives. Recognize and respect that classmates and colleagues bring different experiences, knowledge levels, and cultural backgrounds;
- Participate actively. Attend scheduled sessions on time, complete assigned work independently and honestly, and contribute positively to group activities;
- Maintain professionalism online. Treat all digital interactions — Zoom sessions, Slack channels, group chats, emails — as professional workplace communications;
- Protect confidentiality. Do not share confidential information about other students, their personal circumstances, or their work without their explicit consent;
- Report concerns promptly. If you witness or experience conduct that violates this Code, report it through the process described in Section 6.
Prohibited Behavior
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited in all Meta Xcel contexts and will result in disciplinary action:
5.1 Harassment and Discrimination. Any conduct that creates a hostile, intimidating, or offensive environment, including:
- Verbal or written harassment, threats, insults, or slurs based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, socioeconomic status, or any other protected characteristic;
- Unwanted romantic or sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or any other conduct of a sexual nature;
- Persistent unwanted contact or communication after a request to stop;
- Deliberate misuse of someone's preferred name or pronouns after being corrected.
5.2 Academic Dishonesty. Any form of cheating, misrepresentation, or dishonest conduct in academic work, including:
- Submitting work that is not your own, including work generated entirely by AI tools without disclosure or substantial personal contribution;
- Copying or sharing assessment answers, project code, or examination content without authorization;
- Misrepresenting your qualifications, credentials, or program completion status;
- Falsifying job search activity records submitted in connection with the Money-Back Guarantee.
5.3 Disruption. Any conduct that interferes with the learning environment, including:
- Repeatedly interrupting sessions, instructors, or classmates;
- Posting irrelevant, offensive, or spam content in class channels;
- Recording live sessions without prior written consent of the instructor and all participants.
5.4 Misuse of Platform. Any unauthorized use of Meta Xcel systems, including attempting to access accounts, data, or resources that do not belong to you.
5.5 Retaliation. Taking adverse action against any person for reporting a Code violation in good faith or participating in an investigation.
Reporting Violations
We encourage all community members to report suspected Code violations promptly. Reports can be submitted through any of the following channels:

Reports may be submitted anonymously; however, anonymous reports may limit our ability to investigate fully or notify you of the outcome. All reports made in good faith will be treated confidentially to the extent possible given our obligation to investigate and take appropriate action.
We will acknowledge receipt of all reports within two (2) business days and provide a status update within ten (10) business days of the initial report.
Enforcement & Investigation
Upon receiving a report, Meta Xcel Academy will:
- Acknowledge receipt of the report and assign an investigator;
- Conduct a prompt, impartial, and confidential investigation, which may include interviews with the reporting party, the respondent, and any witnesses;
- Make a determination based on the evidence gathered, applying a preponderance of the evidence standard;
- Notify both parties of the outcome and any corrective action taken, to the extent permitted by applicable privacy obligations;
- Implement appropriate remedial and disciplinary measures.
Both the reporting party and the respondent have the right to provide information and to appeal the final determination as described in Section 10.
Meta Xcel Academy may take interim protective measures during an investigation, including temporary suspension of platform access, reassignment to a different cohort, or other steps to ensure the safety of the community.
Academic Integrity Policy
Academic integrity is fundamental to the value of your Meta Xcel credential. All submitted work must reflect your own understanding and effort. The following guidelines apply:
8.1 Collaboration. Collaboration is encouraged for learning, discussion, and problem-solving. However, unless explicitly authorized by your instructor, submitted assignments, projects, and assessments must be your own individual work. Collaboration on assessments without authorization constitutes academic dishonesty.
8.2 Use of AI Tools. AI-assisted tools (such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and similar) may be used as learning aids unless specifically prohibited for a given assessment. You must disclose any material use of AI in your submissions. Submitting AI-generated work as entirely your own without substantial personal contribution, understanding, and modification is prohibited.
8.3 Citation. When your work builds on external sources, code repositories, or third-party materials, you must cite those sources appropriately. Failure to cite constitutes academic dishonesty regardless of intent.
8.4 Consequences. Academic dishonesty may result in a failing grade on the affected assignment, required resubmission, suspension, or dismissal from the program, depending on the severity and recurrence of the violation.
Digital Conduct Standards
All digital interactions in Meta Xcel-affiliated channels — including Zoom sessions, Slack workspaces, email, and any other platform — are subject to the same professional standards as in-person interactions. Specifically:
- Camera and presentation: Students are expected to present professionally during live sessions. While cameras are not always required, when participating actively we encourage a professional background and appearance;
- Recording prohibition: You may not record any live session, screen share, or private communication without the prior written consent of all participants and Meta Xcel Academy;
- Social media: Do not post or share confidential information, unpublished course materials, or identifiable information about other students on any public platform without consent. You may share your own learning journey and achievements;
- Profile integrity: Do not misrepresent your affiliation with Meta Xcel Academy, your program status, or your credentials on any professional or social platform.
Consequences & Appeals
10.1 Disciplinary Actions. Depending on the nature, severity, and recurrence of a violation, disciplinary action may include one or more of the following:
| Level | Action | Typical Trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Written warning and mandatory conduct counseling | First-time minor violation |
| Level 2 | Temporary suspension of platform access (1–7 days) | Repeat minor or first-time moderate violation |
| Level 3 | Removal from cohort and reassignment | Significant disruption or harassment |
| Level 4 | Permanent dismissal from program, no refund | Severe violation or repeated Level 3 conduct |
| Level 5 | Dismissal + referral to law enforcement | Illegal conduct, threats, fraud |
10.2 Appeal Process. Any student who receives a Level 2 or higher disciplinary action may appeal the decision in writing within ten (10) calendar days of receiving written notice of the decision. Appeals must be submitted to info@meta-xcel.com with the subject "Code of Conduct Appeal." Appeals will be reviewed by our Director of Student Success within fifteen (15) business days. The Director's decision is final.
10.3 Dismissal and Refund Policy. Students dismissed for Code of Conduct violations are not entitled to a refund of any tuition paid, regardless of the stage of the program at the time of dismissal.
